Oh My! Newport and Laguna Beaches Covered in Tiny Red Crabs

Newport, Laguna and Huntington Beaches have been invaded by tiny red crabs. Apparently this is only the second year that it has happened. Last years "millions" of live crabs washed up on the beaches and city workers shoveled them up and brought them to the dump. WHAT?! Such a crime against nature! Since then however, logic seems to have prevailed somehow and the popular consensus this year is to leave them alone. The birds can feed on them or the tide can take them back out to sea. I like that idea much better... to let nature takes its course. Fingers crossed that things turn out better for those little critters this year...
